So, about two weeks ago I went to my instructor and told him I needed a change. I have been wearing way to many hats as of late and its getting to me. Never mind that I have some physical issues I am working with my doctors to clear up, I also have been running the administrative board for about 15 years as the chairman and also working as the executive director doing all our political stuff and as of a year ago I was also assigned our technical director by my instructor. All this and trying to have a family life, job, teaching and trying to find time to train as well as other "fun stuff". its been pulling me in three directions at once really.
So, this past week end I called a meeting of the board and brought all of the instructors and seniors into the meeting and officially handed the chairmans hat to one of my kohai. At first I had an issue with giving up control, she set about doing ten things at once with emails flying to different chair possitions and CC'ing me as we agreed. I wanted to reply to all of them and give advice, but I stopped myself. I had to let go because my entire Karate experience for the last five years has been as an administrator and a instructor. I did my research for fun and I focused alot on personal training to understand, but really I had not done a full class or even a work out just to bust my arse in about that long.
But, now its time to get back to what I love about karate, the killer work outs and research brougt to the table after weeks of investigation. I intend to be way more active in the important things and let the day to day running of the organization fall to my junior, she is more than capable of playing Gonsou for a while!
