On more than one occasion I have seen how great being part of the Karate family can be.
The stories of being taken in when my funds were stollen in the states by a Karate family and getting litterally the shirt off someones back one range from little but significant acts of kindness to HUGE acts of kindness!
The latest is really something that hit home with me. Anyone that is on my facebook friends page knows my mothers house was burn to the ground by a fire in Vita Manitoba. she lost EVERYTHING and two cats to boot!
literally with in a hour I was getting calls and emails from my Karate family telling me they were putting together a "movement" to help my mother and those that lost their homes in the fire! With in a day I had more offers of assistance than I could handle!
Its things like this that remind you of the nature of Karate and the good it can bring out in people, the very essence of humanity shines brightly in many Dojos and its something that makes me remember why I still sog off to the Dojo in knee deep snow in the winters to train with and teach the people I have come to call My Karate Family!

Wish I was in a position to help financially, if we were closer then we would call on all students to come and help out. Good luck with it!

Just a quick update on this story...First off My mom is fine, her insurance is coming in and she is getting things she needs now.
I told my Karate family "thank you" for the quick funds and things that may have been needed right away, her house was burned to the ground....and then some.
However, she was not needing the money as much as others in Vita needed the money. Well, with out my knowledge they had a bit of a fundraiser and raised money for the people in my Moms home town and sent it to the town to help out with the expenses. Thats pulling together as a Karate group!
