Whilst finally getting my book together i am reading and researching anything of interest that will help e illustrate the points i wish to make about applying Shotokan techniques and processes etc and i came upon this little gem: enjoy www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSSfPLmwooY&feature=relatedas you are aware the Enoeda sequence was titled Kuzushi waza - to crush the opponent when it more accurately means to overturn or unbalance an opponent with your 'driving in' techniques. two fine examples here though IMHO

Alex to help you learn whilst watching note the following: Enoeda Sensei is using the Kuzushi Waza as HE drives into the opponent. Machida is using a similar sequence when his opponent is moving into him. so - as can be seen - Kuzushi can be used both offensively and defensively. On a point of mastery of personal body awareness and control - watch how Enoeda Sensei begins to turn to make his final blow after taking the opponent down. Look at his right foot - it is initially in a position that (if he completed the turn) would jeopardize his balance and reduce the potential of his strike BUT his self (and) spatial awareness is so tuned in he makes a quick adjustment of his right foot positioning (unsoku) to create total balance and control of, and throughout, his final strike. to the untrained eye it may either go unnoticed or be considered of no importance but it is very important and evidence of his dominance of the situation IMHO (look at about 17 seconds in until finish of the Enoeda section) here is another variation using similar movements BUT remember just because these three examples are similar demonstrations of Kuzushi waza - the techniques are not Kuzushi Waza. they are merely the weapons coincidently chosen each time for the applying of the process of Kuzushi Waza www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtJq5xVP8AU&NR=1
