It is not often that you connect with someone over the web and right off the bat you seem to hit it off. I have been surfing web sites and posting on forums for nearly 15 years now and only a few times did I run into a person that I just kind of clicked with and met a family so special and open that I felt a kin to them right away.
Our World of Karate practitioners is often one filled with Ego and people that want to control the situations and people around them, to find someone that is just so full of love and acceptance but still quick to call you on your BS is rare in fact and the very fact that the family I connected with went the extra step to open this great forum for us is even more rare!
A few days ago I was skimming my Facebook posts and saw that we lost Kim to the Cancer she so valiantly battled for so very long. She was one of the strongest women I ever “cyber”met and while my conversations with her were rather limited I can say that she was one of my favorite people I met because of this site.
Dod has been a fantastic companion to her and stood by her as she battled this horrible demon of a aggressor and won several battles, but alas she has lost the war and moved on to the next reality without the burden of the disease that took her to worry about.
I have seen her called a Tigress and I have to agree, the battle she put up was an illustration of her true spirit both in life and Karate. I am humbled to have spoken with such a warrior and sad that the world lost such a special person.
I was recently told that her funeral is tomorrow and while I cannot attend due to the distance from my home I will be wearing Red to honor her as I was told that it is the color of her favorite team. To honor her I would ask that all the members that read this do the same and war a bit of Red to remember this great lady.
My deepest condolences to Dod and his family for the loss of this great woman and exceptional warrior in life, and while they are saying good bye to Kims vessel tomorrow know that her spirit has left the vessel and is now free to watch over you and comfort you, she no longer has to battle to survive, she lives on through her children, grandchildren and the effect she has had on all of us here and at home!
For our part in my little corner of Canada, this years Kicks for Cancer will have a dedication to Kim, a UK Warrior that gave her best to the battle and left us so much richer for having known her!
OUS!
