Well that wasn't worth waiting for. They come out and start dancing round the ring throwing the odd testing jab/kick for 2-3 minutes.
Rosuey and Davies come out all guns blazing and batter the hell out of each other for 16 seconds.
The women are putting the men to shame, their fights are invariably more action packed and interesting,
Machida is now a spent force in MMA, he should retire.

Hey Paul, I tend to not agree with that. First off Rousey was 10 times better than Davis that night. Davis came out and looked like she was just then getting the notice she was in a fight...panic set in...and a few well placed punches and she went to sleep. Machida and Chris however looked about even in skill and prep. They came out, first round felt each other out and the next four were close and back and forth. Machida lost the first two because of his movement and lack of attack, however Weidman did not "win" because he took out the Dragon, he just did more forward movements and landed the odd shot. The third was close but weidman opened up Machida with elbows so you give it to him for more damage, the next two though...yah, all Machida.
It was so close that the UFC is looking at a possible rematch after Chris faces Vitor Belfort and even Dana white said that Machida did much better than Anderson Silva against the champ.

Probably, I just think people have sussed Machida out now, when he came into the UFC he never lost a round for a ridiculous number of fights running, now he seems to get beaten more than he wins. All the men seems to come out and spend two minutes feeling each other our, where as the women just tend to come out guns blazing. Not the best strategy, but the most fun to watch :-)

All the men seems to come out and spend two minutes feeling each other our, where as the women just tend to come out guns blazing. Not the best strategy, but the most fun to watch :-) any fighting strategy, if not changed up regularly, can be figured out. I still think that Wiedmans comment about Machida being way harder to fight than Silva says alot. He basically said that if you ignore the hype about silva then you realize that Machida is much harder to fight because of his movement style. However, Machida seems to be more focused on movement and tiring out his opponent than he should be. I totally agree about the ladies fights being more exciting because they seem to throw caution to the wind and just wing it from bell to bell. However, like you said, not a good strategy for longevity in a sport that is all about smashing faces and taking punches. The time will come when the girls skill level will match the mens and then they will slow it down a bit and really focus on strategy that makes sense other than see who takes a punch better. The old days for men was pretty much like what the girls are doing now, so its only a matter of time before they catch up strategy wise...but till then they are still much more fun to watch!
