Hi folks, I have a little project going on at present started initially by a friend of mine sensei Peter Seth. Peter used to be the main organiser for the annual martial arts festival which used to be held in Sunderland the proceeds of which were donated to cancer research at the centre for life in Newcastle. However due to personal issues and soaring costs Peter had to give up this work. Peter contacted me a couple of months ago offering to teach a small seminar at my club free of charge if we donated the proceeds to this charity. I agreed and Peter and his absolutely huge sempai came to my club last week. He conducted a fascinating one and half hours of aikido based techniques relating them directly to kata bunkai. Brilliant! We raised £150! In conversation afterwards we discussed how we could expand this to get other instructors of any martial arts involved. I would be happy to host this or arange to travel to someone's club if necessary and was wondering if any of you folks would be interested in getting involved? Any ideas would be welcome and if you have anyone you would like to pass this idea on to that would be great.

Hey Jim,
Having lost a brother and a few good friends to Cancer I am all about helping out when I can with research into Cancer prevention and cures for cancer. Its a horrible and uphill battle for those that are afflicted with Cancer and the families go through a special kind of hell as well. I know our forums founder lost a very special wife to this dreaded affliction as well.
I hope all the forum members throw on a thinking cap or two and help Jim out. Actually I would also encourage all of you to do something to raise funds in your own area (country) As well. You never know who will find the cure for a particular cancer, could be in the states, UK, canada or other country.
Giving back to things like this is part of Karate. We raise money for a few other things as well, but this is my baby!
