Unfortunately there has been a further development in HC's case as he has been brought back to Court to plead guilty to other sexual offences against Minors (these charges are separate to the original) ranging back into the 80's. HC has pleaded guilty to the further charges against him. Also the Police have asked that sentence be held off whilst they now investigate other cases that have come to light. As you can imagine this must be an horrific time for the victims, there families and friends and also HC's Family Friends and students SO can we please be very mindful and respectful with anything posted on this forum. Thank you. www.hexhamcourant.co.uk/news/news-at-a-glance/new-sex-charges-admitted-1.875001?referrerPath=news

With full respect and consideration to anyone effected by this case, especially the victims, I hope I am not speaking out of turn.
I am considering taking a teaching position at my local club, it may be a bit early as i've only recently achieved 1st Kyu but I find the current hurdles in place are more than enough and almost resticting for people like myself to move forward with Karate if they want to help teach, if the doors get slammed shut to potential teachers then surely it will be a bad thing?
I wouldn't normally comment on such a case but this is affecting me and may affect me more in the future. As a father and someone that knows someone who was abused at an early age then all of this persons good teaching/books etc has turned to dust due to a massive abuse of position/power/trust.

Mal, check the terms of the AMA Insurances for you to teach and also ask to read thier child protection procedures and make sure you are/can abide with them and then you should be Ok!
