A quick question for you that know: what do you call the punch in i.e Jion, technique no. 6 (the punch after the gyakuzuki? Is it junzuki, chokuzuki, or something else? A "same side" punch with a step is of course oizuki, but what if you don't move, what's it called? Just a little disagreement/discussion amongst us in our club

Choku Tsuki gets my vote. Stepping would be Oi-zuki but same side straight punch is a Choku Tsuki.
I hate when people call it Oi-Tsuki to simply give it a fancy Japanese name...USE THE RIGHT ONE FOR GODS SAKE! Wankers!

PMSL Andy! I can visualise you in a cap and slippers.
For correct terminology i do recomend Okazaki's TEXTBOOK OF MEDERN KARATE. NOT SURE IF IT STILL IN PRINT THOUGH.

Not in print anymore, but I happen to have a copy of my instructors that he gave me to hold on to (Read put in my library). the funny part is he was editing it with Yaguchi sensei over the years and I have several hand written corrections from Yaguchi Sensei on the book. Apparently even the more senior instructors dont always agree with each other...and Yaguchi is Okizaki's Kohai!
