1. How many sons did Funakoshi Gichin have? 2. name them? 3. What does Goshindo mean? 4. Like many old time Karate instructors Isao Obata, a very influential man in the history of the JKA was a very wealthy man, what business did he run? 5. What Canadian Karate legend and father of Canadian Karate started out in one style, Abandoned it and used Shotokan Kata to form his own style? 6. Of all of Funakoshi Gichins students who set out to start their own style independent of Shotokan after receiving only a Shodan from Funakoshi! (hint its still a MAJOR style). 7. Which now famous instructor was called “Snake eye” by his peers because he was blind in one eye? 8. Tsutomu Oshima Sensei is what rank, and why has he never tested/moved past this rank? 9. Who, in 1962 won both the Kata and Kumite championships and was crowned Grand Champion at the JKA worlds. 10. Who, in 1957, won the all Japan Kumite championship….with a broken hand?

Steve, Have a go at it.
I must admit that I swayed away from a few European-centric questions to try and allow the New worlders' a better shot, but guys. Keep in mind if you only know half of them...you still may win! Pm me....the one with the most answers...correct answers wins!

I have now taken a look at Kensei's questions and YES i can see how some would find them taxing BUT they are not insurmountable - especially with a little research via your computer. the beauty of this kind of research is that you come across some great and useful technical info on the way. Please support Kensei's fine effort folks! I am not going to join in - bit daft as I am providing the prize - but i will send James my answers just out of curiosity to see how I did. Get in the zone folks - karateka should confront a challenge

Having used "Sensei Google" as an aid in (I think) getting all of them right, might it be an idea in the future to have two winners for each quiz - one having used only what they know, and one who has researched?
