C'mon! We all here have to root for one of our own here. Brains over brawn, that's the way it's being promoted. If Rampage isn't serious about his training he will be in serious trouble. If he thinks Machida's fights put him to sleep he may very well be put to sleep.
Thanks, Tom

I don't know a great deal about this MMA stuff in terms of organisations and titles etc but i have been watching Machida and think he is very 'Shotokan Karate' in things he does especially his timing and straight punching using De Aia. he's my man this time - should be very interesting.
thanks for the info Tom - How did you do at your event - or were you refin'

just saw on TSW John Burke say Terry O'neill has been training Jackson for the fight....Tom, do you know anything about this? I doubt that he will have been able to shotokanize Rampage, but what is interesting is that due to Machida, fighters are now looking for ways to combat this "new" way of fighting..... I like it!And if Rampage did, who better than Terry O'neill?

I didn't hear about Terry O'Niell. The fight was so close that everyone is talking about a rematch ASAP. I was glad BJ KO'd Hughes. My picks were really bad though. Steve - thanks for asking. I took a silver medal in kobudo today. I walk softly but carry a big stick. Only entered kata & kobudo & did some ref'in. It was 35 & over so I was in over my head. I only do kumite in the Nationals. Since I'm so old, I try to qualify in kata or kobudo & then enter kumite only once a year so I don't get too banged up. Can't wait for this rematch. Thanks, Tom

I managed to find the final round of the fight on youtube; here it is if anyone's interested. www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4NPthVrFGEFrom watching clips of Machida's fights, there's no denying how well his karate serves him. A huge number of his KOs seem to be via gyaku-zukis, and even when he wins by submission/some kind of groundwork, it's his karate that gets the opponent down. See 1m30 in the video above for example - that's a damn fine example of a gyaku made to fit the situation perfectly as far as I'm concerned Having seen that, I don't really understand how he lost - Rampage took a serious beating there! Maybe Tom can shed some light?

I read yesterday that Rampage is saying that Machida gave him a serious beating. Judges eh? But Machida took the decision gracefully i read.

Yeah, Rampage admitted that Machida kicked his butt. He was actually surprised that he won. I was impressed with Rampage's humility & in stating that there should be a quick re-match.
Thanks, Tom
PS thank you Alex for the clip but I don't have an answer accept that I heard he won for agression.

Good on Mr Rampage for not being an arrogant twit - I really did expect him to be I can't really understand why agression should win you something, but I know next to nothing about UFC so I'm not in a position to judge its methods of judging I guess... I guess we should look forward to the rematch!

Well good on Rampage for winning ( ?? ) graciously. Did you see his look of surprise when it was announced. I think it was because that Rampage keeps trying to go forward, while Machida uses a lot of `go no sen` & waits for the attack to use his opportunities. After the first 2 rounds, it was a draw. The 3rd round was all Machida. what the heel were they looking at!!!! Also I really wanted to see the Hawaiian mouthpiece B J Penn get his arse kicked, but alas he did hit Matt Hughes pretty hard. Terribly disappointing!!! Waiting now for GSP to shut Koscheck the hell up... Osu Paul B

I was happy with BJ's KO of Matt Hughes. Matt is not the most well liked guy in MMA. Here is the KO - www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7OS7OEVSUI. 'The Prodigy' did help Matt up after he knocked him out, you have to give him that much. I think Fitch will beat up on BJ in his next fight. Fitch is just too big for BJ. I also can't wait for GSP to shut Koscheck up. He has been a big-mouth on TUF. That stuff with the male nurse was nonsence. He kept trying to intimidate the guy. Thanks, Tom

Hey Tom, take the MMA/UFC context out of your post above and it sounds like your describing family relationships in the average family HAHA!

Tom, I`m with you on the Koscheck thing. What a jerk picking on the paramedic like he did. You know even if he was a male nurse, he deserves respect. My wife is a nurse & I was a paramedic & I`ll tell you , `there are not enough male nurses out there`. However the guy tried to point out that he was a `medic` & Koscheck was just proving that he is a jerk... Also yes BJ actually showed Hughes respect & yes Hughes ain`t the most loved! However Penn also can let his mouth run ramped.IMHO Osu Paul B

Ha Ha, I like what Steve said. The TUF & UFC is like a disfunctional family (Hmm, scarily familiar). BJ is gonna get his if he fights Fitch. Thanks, Tom
