Like all of us here - I love what I do. I'm also okay at (relative to age, grade, etc)
My Chief Instructor is Masao Kagawa Sensei - something to aim for!!!!!! My chances of reaching the technical asthetic level of the top JKS instructors is slim to none. And I know that. I'm not embaressed with my karate - I put it on the web to be judged and to learn.
I train on many courses and many clubs - I just love to turn up and train. Standards vary (obviously) - I've met 1st Dans through to 10th Dans and my opinions about there karate remain for the most part with me. I am in no position to judge.
Kagawa Sensei makes no excuses when it comes to telling you what you are doing wrong - and I fully deserve it. In fact sometimes he just looks at you and laughs (doesnt bother me - in fact I know then I have to get my finger out)
What would happen then if Kagawa Sensei went home, got out his laptop and added to the KAG-blog (that would be cool) how awful I am at karate and how I should be ashamed and quit!
Its easy to laugh at someone, post a few pictures of yourself, mostly in posed photos and spent your entire life looking down your nose at everyone who falls short of your standard. But is that the point of karate? Have I missed something in our dojo kun?
Am I supposed to go on karate courses like an angry food critic and slag off the JKA Godans because I feel they fall short.
As angry as I am I would like to ask the question is a Blog fair game to slag off everyone who you feel is rubbish?

Not really sure what you are referring to here James. However to give a general answer to your post, perhaps some feel in a position to do this, personally I am with you i as far as i not only have no interest in "bigging myself up " at the expense of others but have a low tolerance for those that do.

Like James I am not sure what you mean. I enjoy visiting sites to look and learn about what is out there - both good and bad. I would avoid thereafter sites that are simply full of Mckungarate crap - however I visit several sites such as yours that i have found helpful or interesting. i may not always agree with the content but often do and learn as well.
have you had someone trash your blog or something?

Na just reading my regular instalment of a 'popular karate blog' which I don't know why I subscribe to because he doesnt have anything nice to say about anyone - especially my organisation!!!!!
I think his obi should be loosened because it occaisonally cuts oxygen to his brain from time to time.
I just get so angry......

Well James, I know for personal experience that some people are often guilty about 'judgment before fact' and voicing negative stuff when they haven't really got the knowledge to justify their criticisms - how many armchair sports experts have we all seen. If you know different then ignore it.
