So, in the next few days, a kung fu friend of mine and I are going to be doing a few hours of training together, which should be great! I want to know though: is there anything that anyone thinks I should definitely be showing her to give her an idea of what our art is about? I'm definitely going to be taking the accuracy pad thing that I built after being shown how to at Steve's course, but don't really know what else to take/do. Any ideas?
thanks, Alex

depends on what style she is studying - she may practice 'trapping hands' so show her the 'seeing with your body' exercise I did with you all = not disimilar and if she pretty = show her you are a gentleman and ask for her number - Way to go Alix

In my limited training in Kung fu I can only ask what style she trains in. It will depend on how similar or dissimilar her style will be from yours. Also, Like steve said...be a gentleman.

Hi everyone, I just got back, and your advice was all very helpful (the gentlemanly stuff as well ). Just for the record, her school is basically part of the shaolin lineage, but yeah, we did some accuracy pad stuff, we showed each other some forms/kata + bunkai (I was sure to say implications not applications - I finally understood a few weeks ago what Steve means when he says that ^_^), and did some trapping hands amongst other stuff; and it was all *lots* of fun! Needless to say, we're going to be doing this again soon, hopefully with no rain this time though

What did she think of the target pad accuracy drills?

@steve: she actually really enjoyed it! She was a little confused at first, but caught on very quickly! She really liked the kinasthetic vision exercise as well actually! @bert: no problem If my general knowledge serves me correctly, the actual "shaolin temple" was out of use for quite a while, although I may be confusing things. It was quite nice to see the differences between our styles though. It's difficult to explain, but things seem to...roll more with their art, almost in a tai chi kind of way; but yeah, it was a really really fun thing to do ^__^
