Nakayama said that any karateka who did not like any kind of Music would never really be proficient at Karate because they would have no sense of rythm and timing. I have used various pieces of music over the years not only to play whilst i practiced but also to help enhance a particulr 'feeling' or Rythm in a class.
Have you and if so what pieces of music?

Proper Japanese etiquette eh I like training kata to Metalica's 'Devils Dance'. 'Bloodshed' by Amon Amarth when hitting or lifting things. 'Sol Ghoraidh' Runrig when practising but not training. 'The Game' Motorhead for the warm up. All mood setting stuff

Japanese ettequette Enoeda's demo kata ok you win I have found though that I have a tendancy to time the kata to the music and not to the battle with my imaginary friend/enemy. ;D However I enjoy training to music. All sorts but mainly heavy metal. 'Fear of the Dark' Iron Maiden is good for blindfolded kata

Andy - have you got heamorhoids or summit - yer seem to be itching to annoy yer gurt daft Numpty - we all know yer a nice guy Pal, tis too late.
Go put on Holst the planets and let yer emotions run through PMSL!
I have noticed with you heavy metal bods - you are bordering on being Zealots, meaning it is OUR WAY OR NO WAY! and everyone else is tasteless or 'has no style'.
Just to help you detox go by an old John Denver CD or a Barry Manilow box set - real cheap at car boots and probably hardly used! HAHAHA!
'Sunshine on my shoulder makes me Happy! Sunshine almost always makes me smile'
or
'you fill up my senses like a night in a forest'
teehee!

ooh! that's interesting but let's go back to my thread -
Because of a Boxing background (training) i used to use skipping as a VERY good training process for balance, rythm and endurance. I particularly liked the old DISCO music it had a beat to follow and was up beat - anyone else used this?
