Hi everyone, I'm passionate about shotokan and martial arts in general.I've travelled a lot and wasn't allways able to find good dojo's,so I decided to walk the path on my own,I managed to gather good (or even brilliant resourses)for self study,I try to learn something every day. The reason I've joined OSS is to hopefully learn and share things with like minded people. My ambition is not to acquire a 3th dan black belt or any medals(stupid at my age anyway) but to live according to master Funakoshi's 20 principles and apply the dojo kun in my daily life.

Welcome to the forum, I did some searching before finding this place which I think is the best source of info and a fun place to be. Everyone here seems to have the right kind of attitude and respect.

Hi Stockdoc & welcome. Self training is a lot easier today than ever, however IMHO taking in seminars &/or periodic training with a qualified instructor helps to minimize repeating mistakes & getting good at making them. Also, with the three K`s, kumite is quite hard to do effectively solo.. Very honourable to be thinking of trying to be a good example of the dojo kun & the twenty precepts.
