Just out of curiosity, I`m wondering how many others might be calling this kata Jutte ( 10 hands weapon ). Years ago master Okazaki explained to us that the term Jitte had to be an error in translation from Japanese to english. As I`m sure that most of us are aware, ju is 10 & te is hand, so of course the term Jutte makes sense to me. Not sure what ji would mean. I do believe that due to the best karate use of Jitte, that it`s been called this for so long that there is a reluctance to change it back to Jutte. Any thoughts?? Osu Paul B

Paul - until you have heard Japanese spoken in a broad north of england or deep cockney accent you not understand why we haven't gotten around to checking spellings yet HAHA!
I think you explanation is probably correct and a print/translation error in BK caused the confusion. Similar to Kanazawa Sensei's extra Kiai in his kata book.
