Both my daughter and myself passed our grading today along big frank from our club. All of us are now 3rd kyu and on the final stretch to attaining Shodan. I know the grading is not the main goal of our Karate but reaching this means we can attend the seniors class on top of the reguar ones. Over 500 JKS Scotland students graded this weekend 23 from our own club so despite other things for folks to do Karate is still going strong in Scotland

Excellent news, well done to you all. 500 is a massive number, and all under the same banner too. Take your time on this stretch of training to get strong results in your Karate as it's still the building blocks of your Karate of a couple of years from now. Hope that makes some sort of sense! Great to have Shodan as your goal but hopefully it's just a big milestone along the way. Great job! ;D

Well done. Enjoy the new grade, it does feel good to join the senior class and I'm sure the seniors will enjoy new targets to hit. Oops I meant to say new training partners to continue their training with. Ha ha ha

Malk I think we have around 6000 members in JKS Scotland just now, this includes over 20 active schools clubs that are thriving. I understand the belt advice and whilst i am proud of earning it, it is not what motivates me or emma we both just love to train.
Alan I love the contact side of our martial art and whilst I am a lower grade than most my hands and feet are sharp enough so they know if they belt me I belt them back lol

Nice one Dek, I always say to kyu grades that if their is a black belt in front of you then they are fair game for a bit of pressure!
