Not what you think....Have you ever thought of calling your dojo a specific name other than the location it is in. For instance instead of the JKA OF WINNIPEG we would call it the BUSHIDOKAI KAN or some thing? My personal Dojo in my home has a nick name that my students use for it "Itami no Ie"...which I thought was really cute...till I looked it up! Cheaky buggers!

Our club uses multiple halls so they are normally refered to by location or the evening/day they fall on. I did an extensive search when I was looking to start a seperate club and couldn't find anything cool that hadn't been used.

O.K. Kensei; I`m biting. The enquiring mind needs to know. The closest that I can come up with is, `Pain in Ass`. I do believe that one translation of `Itami` is `Pain`..

LMAO, a Japanese quick translation and one that a Japanese exchange student gave to one of my....victi...er....training partners is the "house of pain" or "house of suffering". LMAO, and the "Pain in Ass" would probably be accurate if you were just talking about me!

I knew that would make you laugh!! ;D I was thinking about` house of pain`, but thought that the word `kan` would be used. However as we know there is more than one word that can mean the same thing.

I've seen lots of dojo's named after katas. Once trained in a club called Chinte. Also trained with others from Heian ryu, Kanku dai, sochin.

I have never been one for adopting a Kata name for a Dojo, I once saw an add for Kanku Ryu shotokan do Karate dojo...and thought "Man thats a mouthful" what do you say when you are asked the name of your dojo?..the whole thing...wow!
For us the JKA of ________ works just fine but I like the idea of the names as well.
