So this week end a old friend/student of mine made good on a promise he made about two years ago to me. He called me up and said "hey, You ready".....I was confused and said "uh, for what"......his response had me gigling for a bit..."for your Tattoo sillly".
I done got inked again the other day and RIGHT ON MY SHIN....For future reference.....Shin....not good place to get Inked!
MY GOSH did it hurt, and its kind of burning now that its healting...not itchy yet.
This is not my first Tattoo. but this one says "SHotokan Karate-do" from the top of the Ankle to the knee cap and has the Toro no Maki on the side.
I will be honest, it hurt more than I thought it would for sure and right now I am feeling like "hmmmm this hurt a bit more than I thought it would" but its very nice!
Not a recommendation in any way shape or form....just a silly old guy acting like a teen!

Bit puzzled here?
How "old" do you consider old?
What is "Silly old man stuff"?
PS..do not have a problem with tattoo's, one of my son's aged 38 has many.
Best Regards Allan

Let me just correct a few ideas that Allan brought up, first off I am only 41...gonna be 42 soon....but to the kids at the Dojo I am the "Old man"...and when I told the 19 year old sparring partner what was planned he kind of looked at me and said "Wow, at your age"...yah, good thing it was after sparring or I would have fallen on him and broken a hip!
As for silly, it was meant to be a joke!
As for pictures, I have some on my face book. I will try and put them on here tonight.....
and FOR THE RECORD...The Shin...Not the nicest area to have torn up with a Tattoo....WOW!

41 ain't even middle aged you young fool! ;D It's amazing how some younger youngsters assume that anyone over 40 has done something like get a tattoo... I got one on my arm but have been told any tat on bony parts are painful. I'm assuming this gives your sparring partner something to read or look at if they don't move out the way quick enough?

LOL. I got my first tat at the age of 50 and got the usual mid-life crisis jibes. It was something I had been intending to do for ages just never happened. I now have 5 in total and intend having the ones on my right arm upgraded to a full "sleeve". They all hurt! Quite addictive though, not sure what that says about me!

The wife and I have been talking about this for years (she was keen on getting done until the tattoo artist told her what she wanted was a "prison" tattoo, not so keen now . I've got my design sorted and filed away but have just never had the bottle to actually do it (it's not the pain so much as the permanence). Maybe one day, although unless I'm going to live to 110 then I may have missed this particular "midlife crisis".

always liked the idea... but personally I need a reason (like celebrating something a la. the UK Team for the OZ Olympics all had tat's done)
Without that I am not sure I could live with My 13 year old daughter (not to mention my wife's ) scorn.

I already have one on my back, but this one seriously hurts...the one on my back was a walk in the park compaired to this one. Had it done on sunday and Tuesday I am limping and dealing with the aftermath! If I knew then what I know now...I would have done it in stages!
My wife has two and now I have "Two". No scorn, but I may not be at Karate for a week or so.
