Rumors going around here in Japan is that Tanaka is out of the JKA. Why and what when down are unclear. Anyone else out there know anything more?

This is very new stuff. But, it is going around Japan here like wild fire. I tend to think this might be accurate. But I have heard nothing official or anything like that. Maybe it was just a tiff that is all over and done with now. www.jka.or.jp/j-what/j_sys2.html No picture of Tanaka. There is a blank spot where it used to be, but it is gone now. Could be just a mistake. But, then again. |

A few years back there were rumours of trouble over one of the junior instructors leaving. The issue was between one of those named and another senior instructor. Perhaps this has been brewing for some time.
The question of course is does he need the JKA, or vice-versa?
Does it really matter?
Look at the history of JKA and the big names who have left, starting with Kanazawa. It will continue, one instructor, regardless of how big a name, leaving will not have that major an effect!

According to Google's translation on Tanaka's Japanese Wiki page, it was said that Nakahara fired Tanaka as the Vice Chief Instructor, and he was actually banned from entering JKA's Spring group training...
I would agree that just like any big company, even if a senior VP leaves, the company will generally go on and doing well (unless the VP jumped ship due to company's downturn; but this is certainly not the case with JKA)
This is unfortunate. Tanaka contributed so much to the fame of what JKA is today. But personally I wouldn't think it wouldn't be a bad idea to retired now. He can definitely spend more time tending to his garden and doing fishing...

First off Wikipedia...its written by the public, most of which I dont trust as they may have axes to grind.
Second, the JKA web site does not mention anything, and they would at least have taken down his picture off the english site.
Now, I have to admit that I am JKA and this is disturbing to me a bit, but I wont be pushing or pulling for info as its not going to affect what I do on the floor at the Dojo tonight.
However, it would be very sad to see the JKA part ways with an instructor of his level. But it wont end the organization or anything like that. For me its about the training and what is available as far as classes go.

It took them a long time to remove Okazaki and all the other ISKF-ers from the JKA website (at least the English site) after they all left. |

It is confirmed in Honbo dojo in Tokyo that Tanaka is out in bad standing, he was reported to have received money from JKA Hungary without the JKA headquarters and hereby expelled, shame shame |

Here is the straight up deal guys, who cares! If Tanaka Sensei is Kicked out of the JKA then so be it, but I have seen pictures of him ref'ing at tournaments this year after the supposed "booting" and he is still on the docet to teach at many seminars under the JKA. I also think that the rumor mill has enough fodder, so lets avoid making it worse than it possibly is by saying "maybe...maybe not...but who cares".
I am a fan of Tanaka Sensei, always have been. but that is not the reason that I think this one needs to go to bed, Im an adult, thats why I think the Gosip should be avoided.

LMAO, I think that us chatting about your "adulthood" probably would be far more fun and beneficial than running through the latest rumors and dirt sheet info! And by the way, I think we are in the same boat, my wife looked at me training in the basement Dojo the other day and said "when will you grow up, dancing around in white Pajamas?....Now the fact that I spent money putting a Dojo in my basement was not the first hint that I am grasping at youth with all my might?? My come back...."hey you married me!" |

Take a look what he has to say about Tanaka Masahiko.. fishershotokan.wordpress.com/Wait are you actually sourcing Malcolm Fisher for something....A) he knows why he is not listed as an instructor with the JKA and B) he is a horrible teacher! I trained in one class with him and would not use a quote from that angry and sour person. His sour grapes come out in his teaching. And wow does he have a strong cult like following. Just my 2.3 cents worth! |
