What makes me say that? Often I do not think it is that people have forgotten, they never where told in the first place.
What makes me say that. I have just read that after 18 years "24 Fight chickens" is ending. I often wondered what the site was about there it is in a nutshell.
"Karate is for FUN"
Some people like to argue for the sake of it but it has some very interesting stuff and worth a look before it goes.
Never met the guy, never will, but enjoyed the content and I am grateful for his effort.

I for one dont care about 24 fighting chickens. My take on it is that Rob created a site that he could be king and commander of and if you had a thought that was not directly in line with his...he attacked you and made it MUCH LESS THAN FUN to say the least!
Now I had my issues with rob, like him bullying people, calling people he attacked a bully, dismissing anyone that had different ideas than him and then again calling them a bully and banning them....and I am not just talking about me. I think the dude had a complex...and I told him as much!...which is yes, why I got banned.
Karate should be as much fun as possible and while their was a tone of info on that web site, you need a strong BS filter to get through some of it. It is written in such a bias that you have to basically figure out "was Rob ticked off and in a mood when he wrote this" and also, who was he trying to p-off!
Their are much better web sites out their and tones of books that you can read through to help develop your Karate knowledge than the overly biased 24 FC site was. the Shotokan way comes to mind if I have to think of other sites other than this one that I go to. And doing a youtube search will provide hours of visual learning that you can bring to the dojo or home work outs over a site set up to provide a "domain" for someone that has a personal axe to grind and a dogma to sell.
Just my take!

I first discovered 24FC many, many years ago and certainly (at that time at least) Rob had a bee in his bonnet about a number of issues (that might come under the heading of understatement and a fairly short fuse. Having said that I feel much the same about his site as I do here, it was HIS site, he was putting in all the work and providing an alternative source and set of views and there were precious few people doing it that long ago (even now it's not that common and there is a lot of "blandness" to be found in most karate clone sites), and if you didn't like it you didn't have to visit. It was at least a place you could have a robust conversation without all the pussyfooting around (you would always loose obviously as Rob had the final sanction ). My recollection is that I gained a lot more positives than negatives in my visits to 24FC over the years and I believe that Rob mellowed a bit as the years passed (although still wasn't a big fan of a lot of the BS prevalent in karate). So for me, when I was going through that phase, his site added to the "fun" I was having, and as far as the general title of the thread goes I would vote YES, karate is for fun, I can assure you if I wasn't having fun I would not be doing it as I have no other need for putting myself through it. The day it stops being fun will be the day I stop training.

24 FC had some good thought provoking articles over the years. I have not always agreed with what he writes but will miss dipping into the site. Good luck to him with whatever he does next.
