So, I dont train with any Asai Sensei students or anything like that, but I did make note that of the many Asai students and organizations that have popped up and they all seem to teach different core Kata that Asai presented. For isntance one group I know of teaches the Junro Kata and another one does not. On teaches the grouping of Senshu, Kashu, Fashu and others from that grouping but no Junro. Anyone care to explain this one.
Also, who the heck actually has the right to say they teach Asai Karate, to many fights over his legacy for me. If you did not train with him for more than 10 years continuously then perhaps you need to just say you teach Karate and leave it at that.??

...who the heck actually has the right to say they teach Asai Karate... Asai Sensei.... All others should either do their own stuff or stick to another style/syllabus/whatever... Or just say they were influenced by Asai Sensei? Karate is Karate is Karate... does it really matter who it came from or was changed by or whatever? Just train, it doesn't matter too much about which arm/leg goes where, more about where the mind is.

My feeling is that although my roots and influence are Shotokan I do my own karate, as do we all if we train for long enough. I would not expect my students to say they did my style of karate and I believe Funakoshi felt the same way when his students first chose to call their style Shotokan.
