Not been about for a while as i've been busy with work and training, also setting up a new Club! With my old club/org we set up a committee and it went downhill from there, the standards dropped, jobs went undone and it seemed as though we had become everything that we criticised in others. Decided to have a clean break and run my 2 clubnights along for a while, found a couple of really good seniors so I can keep up my training, one has even offered to grade my 2 senior Kyu grades to Shodan when they are ready as i'm only Nidan. Much better than giving them an easy Black belt which they wouldn't have thanked us for in the long run.
It was wierd leaving a Sensei as it felt disrespectful but I think the bad things far out-wieghed any loyalty or respect.

Nice to see you back, I assume you wanted to learn karate as you already knew about loyalty and respect as your mummy already told you. You owe him nothing I doubt they where free lessons?
Move on with a clear head and go back to what you started in the first place before you got waylaid.

Hi Mal
Just visited your great looking website...some well worn belts in the pics!!
Are you saying as a Nidan you would normally grade your Shodan's yourself?
Who have you affiliated your new club with?
Best Regards Allan

A few of the worn belt owners are on here as it was a course near London that I attended with my son last year, will have some more relevant pictures soon now that our badges have arrived.
As a Nidan I am happy to grade up to 1st Kyu which is the standard 2 below, previously they would have all been graded by my Sensei/Sempai. For the next Dan grades from my club they will need to go externally to grade but the new club where I have been training has already offered this.
I have joined the IMASA which is an independant governing body for insurance, guideance etc. Very reasonable prices and really on the ball. I will train and eventually grade to Sandan with the other club nearby so happy to stay independant for now.
There is still some bitching going on at the old club but they will move on eventually as I have.
