WHOOOOOOPEEEEE PAUL! That's fantastic news. Congratulations. Did you know the ancient Japanese tradition after passing yondan? you have to buy us all drinks - so let me have your bank details and passwords and i promise i will only draw out enough for drinks for everybody seriously - well done in dead! steve

Thanks a whole bunch everyone!! I must admit that I was somewhat surprised. As I`m sure you are all well aware, the success rate for first time testing is not high. I was fully expecting a 6 month or hopping for a 3 month retest, as these actually mean that you were really close. When I got my grading card back, I must have looked a bit silly, as I was searching for how long till the re-test & sensei Dixon asked me what I was looking for, I started to tell him & he said, `you do know that you passed huh`well my jaw must have hit the floor when it dropped. Then it dawned on my that they kept my dan registration form for processing, rather than give it back to me for next time. I can`t describe the feeling. ;D It was undoubtedly the best feeling from any of my dan exams. I received shodan 1st try, nidan took 3 times, sandan twice, now yondan 1st attempt has me almost in shock. Funny on how a positive experience will change your perspective, just last week I was thinking, ok I`ll start the process now, but when I finally get it, maybe this will be the last test. Now I`m thinking, ok I have 5 yrs before my next test `for godan`. Let me just say that actually sandan was as high as I ever dared set my expectations, but now I`m a firm believer in what master Yaguchi calls ` you can do`. I have so many people to thank, from my seniors, to my students, of course my family for their support. But also you people on this site for sharing your knowledge & experience, it all helps keep one motivated. I`m so very proud of ISKFBC. We had 24 people testing for dan level. 15 for shodan, 6 for nidan, one for sandan, me for yondan & one for godan. We had about a 60% success rate, which is pretty standard. The higher the rank the lower the success rate. If you combine the sandan, yondan & godan, I was the only successful candidate. This means that the shodan & nidan levels did quite well. We have never had this many test for dan level. A good milestone for us & hopefully making for a positive future. Thanks again for you acknowledgement! I would like to share with you on our seminar experience, with master Yaguchi & sensei Swain. I`ll try & write it up soon. Osu Paul B

Oh I almost forgot, My legs feel kind of `dead` today. And Steve I hope that oneday I can buy you that drink. As far as the bank information, you might not want to be holding your breath while waiting for it!!! Not that I wouldn`t trust you. Oh by the way I was talking to your old friend Karen Williams ( Findlay ), she says that she can most likely tell me more stories about you ,than you about her. I think I`m going to enjoy our next few chats. ha ha. Paul B
