XD Alex Hi Alex If you look closely they are not punching the floor. they are punching etc towards the floor. they are merely demonstrating Otoshi Waza - probably for dramatic effect for the documentary. you must remember that karate was fundamentally unknown in the western world and still relatively new to Japan (GF had only past in 1957) so they would want stuff that would intrigue audiences. hope that helps.

Ah okay, that makes a bit more sense I thought that they may have broken all their makiwara or something XD

I am saying this in a very genuine attempt to help Alex and not as a pop at your post.
you need to learn to look closer at what you are really seeing as opposed to what you think you are seeing. transfer this into your karate study and your absorption of info and resulting advances in skills and understanding will be noticeable. you have one MAJOR problem though - you are a teenager and inherently impatient and mad as a snake. but there is nought you can do about that except try to slow down and really see the heavenly glory and not the finger!
good luck.

Oh the terrible burden of being young... I do totally agree with you though, and this kind of links in with why I made the thread about slowing down the grading system majorly... I need more time damn it! I can't wait for the end of this year - provided I get the grades I want in my exams and the university place/s that I want - then there'll be three months solid of karate to be had ^__^
