How many of you are practicing the new Kumite drill that the JKA England have introduced - Ju Kihon Ippon Kumite? It is not dissimilar to Kumite drills we have used for a while but I did notice that it is causing some confusion as students and Instructors try to get the format exactly correct. Which is nice

Semi free basic one step sparring? Don`t understand this. We do jyu ippon. ( semi free ) & of course ippon kumite, using a variety of defenses & attacks. I might sound daft, but can you explain where the new format fits in. I guess I`ll try to check it out on google & see what shows up!! Osu Paul B

Appearsto be somewhat of a hybrid between the two, students begin from Kamae in Zenkutsu dachi and move in a linear fashion before launching attacks that are blocked and countered Kihon Ippon fashion i.e. no snap back of the attacking or defending block.
I note you also confused by it Paul as where several,
this is what occurs with set grading syllabi me thinks
