I was fortunate to train with kimura sensei twice. you cannot really tell on the vid but when he hit a pad you held - your ancestors felt it. he was encouraging karateka to 'hit things - not just makiwara' 40 years ago. and did anyone notice at the opening that is eddie daniels holding the pad. a fine british international all styles squad member and as hard as nails. eddie is a big man and that is a thick pad but watch eddie bounce backward yet Kimura is not doing the long tension loud kiai stuff. he is just relaxing and sending his energy into the pad - it was even more impressive live. enjoy www.youtube.com/watch?v=roYjsR8eUMkhere is some shukokai lads havin a go - i liked this also because - what a beautiful dojo! www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkJi1ZaOmMA&NR=1we used medicine balls a lot - courtesy of my dad's boxing background

A few years ago on one of our residential Association courses at Bangor University, we had the pleasure of a session with Sensei John Lynn (I think he is from Wales, but not sure). We were hitting these types of pad. We were doing okay, but then Sensei Lynn hit them ! Then you KNOW you were hit ! ;D OOF !
