David - tis great to see the growing connections between your Club In Aberdeen and Jim's in the NE. BUT BE WARNED if you visit them: Not I must emphasise a warning of danger but a warning of a very 'Social' experience once the very committed and spirited stuff is over in the Dojo - because they take you to their Local and it is like stepping into a wonderful time-warp. Many would say (at first impressions) that the place is as rough as F*ck! very basic (sawdust on the floor and spittoons would not be out of place!). full of real characters who range from so drunk they can hardly stand to serial killer material. But and i suppose this is indication of Jim Luke's and his students standing in the area - it is as safe as hell and great fun. you will see people singing and bursting into dance, falling over etc but then you will find the same people to be very friendly and even gracious. I STRONGLY recommend that you take a guitar (David is a very talented musician folks) and i am sure you would have everyone singing in no time -- you may even make a few Bob! BUT be warned they ply you with drink constantly - tis a disgrace
