All of us here, either directrly or through those who went before you, have connections to Japan.
Lets all express our sadness and desire for a speedy rebuild and prosperity - despite the inevitable losses.
GOOD LUCK JAPAN AS A NATION AND AS INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE!
You are a nation with spirit and courage and you are not alone. We are here and thinking of you. Ask and i know we will respond.
'AJIME' Japan.

Has any one been told about the state of the JKA, SKA or any head quarters in Japan. I really hope all Karate-ka in Japan are safe and not effected physically by the Tsunami and earth quakes!
I feel for everyone in Japan and knowng that the Canadian military is sending their special response teams is a little help, the world is going to need to pitch in for this one!

let us, as forum members, wait for the appeals that inevitably will follow, and then DO SOMETHING as a group eh?

could not agree more. One of our members father runs Red Cross Winnipeg and apparently Red Cross international is ramping up already. My thoughts are with every care worker that goes over their and helps out, for my part...as soon as the request is put in I will be throwing a few bucks and some blood their way!
Lets all help out when we have a clear view of what is needed most!

Maybe we can keep each other posted as to what seems to be appeals that we might be able to make a collective difference. Hard to fathom in a way. Last I heard; over a thousand missing & 800,000 without power!!! Unfortunately these numbers are usually low in times of disasters. Paul B

We had a seminar tonight, during the seminar we asked that all JKA students give to the Red cross as much as they could afford to give. One of our students dads is a vp here in winnipeg...Tonight we raised $900 for the cause and we expect more Saturday before testing. Time to put up gang, they need our help!

Words can not express the sadness in my heart......
It's beyond words. Love and peace.

10,000 dead and counting, this is horrible. The worst part, on a psycological level is that you can not blame anyone. It seems so much easier when someone has done something wrong to blame them. This is just hopelessness at its worst.

We, as martial artists, owe the Japanese a lot. For one of the few times in my life - I am speechless. I am praying for them Thanks, Tom

Here is someting, real, that we in the AAU karate program are trying to do. I just hope we get people to participate. If anybody is in the NY - NJ area they can help - This is an information flyer regarding a Kick-a-thon to support families affected by the devastating situation in Japan. Funds would go to a non-profit organization, The Okinawan American Association, and Red Cross are tax-deductible. We are asking the dojos to respond to us directly if they plan to participate and we will organize it from there. Please Save the Date Students and Friends of North Jersey Karate Schools are invited to participate in a Kick-a-Thon Fundraiser Event for Japan Relief Hosted by Shidokan Karate of Mahwah Sunday June 12, 2011 In the afternoon Exact time & location in Mahwah, NJ will be announced All Pledges “per kick” or flat dollar donations will be Tax-Deductible. All proceeds will go to the Okinawan American Association a (501 C 3 organization) that will distribute funds to assist families affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Our goal is raise $10,000. We think this is a very reachable goal with the support from area dojos. Donations may be made even an individual is unable to come to the Kick-A-Thon event. Please send a confirmation email to: friends@shidokanofmahwah.com to let us know that your dojo would like to participate and to request the Kick-a-Thon Registration & Pledge forms for your school. We will mail them to you by the end of April so your students can begin gathering their pledges in advance. We look forward to getting together with you and your students to give support to this important cause. Sensei Mitch and Judy Cooperman, www.MahwahKarate.com
