Interval training, 20 seconds exercise 10 seconds rest repeat for about 6 minutes.
Then laying on the floor seems to feel about right trying not to be ill.

The original Tabata protocol is 20 seconds maximal exertion, 10 seconds rest, repeated 8 times for a total of 4 minutes. If done correctly, unless you are really in amazing condition, you should be unable to talk by the end, and may not be even be able to do a full set when first starting out.. The exercise should be something that engages a lot of muscle groups. I personally prefer doing burpees. Other use a heavy bag, jump rope, sprints, etc. Note that in Tabata's original study, this gave the best combined increases in aerobic and anaerobic capacities of several different paradigms that he tested. If you are primarily interested in one or the other, or in increasing power endurance, you can probably find suggested modifications on the web. (Note also that Tabata's original paper specified a warm-up and warm-down period before and after.)
