Whilst taking an expedition into my loft ( A TRULY DANGEROUS ENDEVOUR!) - I have found a box of various old VHS tapes of Karate. Some of it I 'think' may be of interest to Members here but - I am an absolute technology NUMPTY!What do I have to do to get these film clips to the point that I can somehow post things here for you to all view. I have a VHS Player/Recorder and last week (at a Car Boot Sale! ) ) managed to pick up a fully operational CD/DVD Player/Recorder and (Obviously) have computers, Lap tops and T'internet access. How do I get the VHS Images onto this site? IF you can help please post simple each stage advice cos I really am hopeless with this kind of stuff! LMAO!

Most software wanted to use a downloader which added more rubbish to your PC in the form of toolbars. I found 2 that might do the job but haven't tried them. sourceforge.net/projects/v2crs/files/latest/download?source=directorypaul.glagla.free.fr/captureflux_en.htmOnce you have connected everything up there will be a method of recording in the software, you then just play the video and hit record, some of them may take up a lot of space. The file format is important, hopefully the software will allow you to save it in a format that is compatible with Youtube. A good media player to view them on your PC is VLC: download.cnet.com/VLC-Media-Player/3000-13632_4-10267151.htmlYou will also need an account to upload them to Youtube, once there you can simply link to it. Sounds like a long process but once you have the right connectors it should be easy enough. Let me know if you need a red/white/yellow rca lead or any more help.

Just a thought for everyone - I, being technology illiterate, asked for Help. Just look at all the effort Mal put into giving me the advice etc I asked for - Absolutely brilliant Mal and very much appreciated. Often, on this site and others, there is much debate about the divisions and polarised positions created in Shotokan Karate over the last few decades. However, it has been my long held believe that such divisions, rivalries, and polarised non communication between the groups IS NOT driven or desired by the general members. I have found most everyday Karateka to be nice people whom want, enjoy and indeed promote harmony, cooperation and hopefully new friendships. Sites such as the OSS (Our Shotokan Studies) Forum - and others, contribute to this so positively. Dod and Liam Watt deserve much praise for pioneering and launching this innovative site and Members like Mal - who on his own time was so kind and willing to help a fellow (Techno Numpty) member are the cornerstones of what I believe is a NEW WAVE in Shotokan karate = cooperation, interaction and support for each other - Thanks Mal! However - don't be surprised if either of the following now occurs: 1. you recieve a message that I have electrocuted myself, set the house on fire and am in intensive care... or 2. I work it out but post a video clip of a family holiday in Greece 20 yrs ago cos even with the correct help, info and equipment I remain a Techno Numpty! Crossed fingers folks!!

Of course if you are using a Mac computer or an ergonomic style keyboard then I withdraw my offer of help....... ;D ;D ;D I know what it's like to struggle with technology and it didn't take me long, i'm also getting some brownie points in as i'm going to drink all of your cider next month.
