Damn! being a half-wit it's no wonder I struggle.
On a slightly more curmudgeonly note...not sure if that is really news, or a particularly accurate headline from the BBC. Essentially it is Basic Biology - Neural pathways are re-enforced by repitition and practice. This is no different from any other activity (including handwriting, basket weaving and driving a car). An experienced Karateka having punched many many thousands of times would have developed and reenforced the necessary neural pathways to improve timing and efficiency of the punches...
