I've had a few emails in badly written English - bit like my own - stating that a family member will be in my City at Uni (or something) for a few months and they want to train at our Dojo 4-5 times a week. The first one I sent a basic reply to and they replied concentrating more on the "final payment" needed. I stated that we pay as you train and to only pay for the first few lessons until they were happy etc etc. The second email I sent a similar reply to but was short and to the point, just received another where they said an associate would be sending me a cheque for the full amount blah blah blah.
These used to be popular with car sales for export when they would send you a cheque and you needed to wire some money to pay for the shipping costs out of the cheque, which of course would bounce even after it had been "cleared" by the bank. Your payment however was wired and instant so goodbye money.
I didn't think they would stoop low enough to try and con a small club trainer out of what could only be a few pounds.
Has anyone else been getting these?
I remember getting one of the car scams and knew it was rubbish when they started with "your vehicle is exactly what we are looking for..." I'm sure that a knackered old non turbo Citroen would not be many peoples first choice of car to import....
