One of our younger members (11) was on holiday and was picked on by an older lad of around 13, he then got attacked by him. A year or so ago he would have just been a victim but on this occasion he fought back, blocked 2 hits and countered. The older lad backed off and even complained to his parents that he had been attacked.
A massive confidence boost for the lad and his parents are more than pleased that he stood up for himself. I was very impressed that he used proportionate force as that was a topic I bought up in a recent lesson with him.

Its great when you see training paying off. Well done to him! I have just had a young lad start the class who was jumped by 5 kids wielding branches who knocked him from his bike , pinned him down , attempted to tie his hands with strands of tree bark and thrashed his genitals with sticks! I have instigated an age appropriate self-defence programme for him and he is being mentored by a dan grade of his own age. fingers crossed this incident has not dented his confidence beyond recovery.
