we purchased them, they are a nice addition to your library, but that is about it. they are basically best Karate in written form. No flashy pictures! Personally I would look at Enoedas books before getting these.

Thanks for the info!
What books from Enoeda do you recommend?

Any and all! LOL! His Shotokan Advanced Kata were kind of nice for me because the pictures were big and the format was such that you could take what you learned at the Dojo home and place the books down and actually read them while reworking on Kata.
Also, you must buy the "Tiger of shotokan" or what ever it is called. I am still looking for my own copy to buy but I read a tad of it on line and it looks awsome!

The "trouble" with the Enoeda books - apart from their somewhat confusing (IMO) layout and design - is that he didn't finish the job and they only cover a relatively few Kata - and whilst a bit boring and taking a while to get the best of the Best Karate Series are still very good and give a level of detail that I've not found elsewhere (yet) - and yes I'm also interested in the JKA Books and had been thinking about adding them to my collection.

Hello Tim
Try the Vince Morris/Aidan Trimble ISBN 0-09-174104-1 "Karate Kata and Applications" series 2, 3 and 4 books which cover all kata bar Kihon and Heian.
Also by the same authors ISBN 0-09-180938-X "Karate Kata Applications"which cover the Heian plus 7 kata that are in the 3 above volumes.
Ebay is a good and cheap source.
Best Regards Allan

Excellent! Thanks Allan! I'll be sure to look those up and post a review once I read them. I'm always looking for good technical books to help me with my training. Anything that can add finer details and also give me variations and ideas for training methods. Does anyone else have any good books to recommend? Other than Dynamic Karate and the Best Karate series, what DVD's or books are worth it? I greatly appreciate the help.

I love the Vince Morris/Aiden Trimble books but I'm sure that Vince Morris particularly would not teach applications like that any more. They still give excellent descriptions of the kata though.
